I have a 30 gallon aquarium with 9 African cichlids, I know the tank is overcrowded, but this was for a friend of mine who passed a way, so I don’t wanna get rid of any of them (or the aquarium). I made a DIY background, and they seem to love it. However, it’s falling apart and needs to be changed. Do you know what type of decoration I can use? I searched the internet and found some nice Artificial Coral Reefs and Cichlids’ Stones. Would any of these offers the 9 cichlids places to hid and make the 30 Gallon look good?
I've been looking for a nice aquarium setup for my african cichlid, but it seems that the current setup is missing something. It would be nice if people with experience would help me make my aquarium a little bit pleasant to the eye.
I have collected several rocks from the nearest lake and tested them with vinegar, none of them formed bubbles.
Anyways, here is the link for a picture of my aquarium.
I would appreciate if you could tell me what can I add to my aquarium to make it look nice.
Btw, I'm currently using play-sand as the substrate, and my current pH is 7.9
My current filters are eheim 2215, and old top fin power filter 40, and I am planing to add a tetra whisper ex series for 70 gallons.
thanks guys
one more thing i'd like to add, I love the black background. I have tried several background but it seems that the black bacground give my aquarium more depth. I'm considering a mirror or a 3d background.
Just set it up few days ago. I made the background in it with the DIY tutorials on youtube. Cichlid sand on the bottom, driftwood, and some oaklahoma stone I got form the local stone supply. Filter is from previous tank, and water inside is from the other 2 aquariums in the house, so there was no wait time. Tank is 29 gal long. Cichlids are babies so it looks like the tank is huge lol. Only other fish is going to be a clown loach.
I have a 75 gal tank, w/ DIY 3d background all set up, and now I need to choose sand for it. I do want sand, not gravel, and I wanna go white-ish. I've read about silica, crushed coral, and aragonite, and even those eco-completes (they sound good but none in a white sand). I'm thinking I'll just go with some quickcrete pool filter sand...but I want suggestions? What do you got?
